Sent to the Financial Secretary to the Treasury
When V.A.T was introduced, when we joined the European Union, it was stated it would apply to all luxury items, ask any woman and they will tell you sanitary products come under essentials not luxury.
As we understand itthe Government has stated they are now putting sanitary wear into Secondary Schools, and then also moving forward into Primary Schools, but period poverty is not only amongst the younger generation, many households are experiencing this too. Foodbanks are also relying on donations to help women with these items in their local areas.
The women of the U.K stand together and shout “This is not a luxury item”.
With the country now leaving the E.U. as of 31 January 2020, what excuse?
