Knitting for Nepal Appeal

  • January 7, 2016
  • News

After the devastating earthquakes in Nepal last year, we at the Head Office of The National Association of Women’s Clubs started a campaign  called “Knitting For Nepal”. We knew there were other groups doing similar campaigns but that didn’t stop us from playing our part.

We had a contact who is an ex Ghurkha Officer now serving with the Reserve Forces, who said he would help with transport and distribution, and so we set our members the challenge.

We were then compteley overwhelmed by the response.  Bags of items handed it at our events across the year, and daily arrivals at the office. We would like to thank all those individuals and clubs that made beanie hats, wrist warmers and scarves & gloves etc. We recieved over 2000 items, which were sent up to London to make the journey out to Nepal in November.

Thanks again ladies.

8th September 2022

To all members

Today is one of the saddest days that we will ever experience with the death of our beloved Queen.

For most of us she has always been a part of lives, she has been constant and steadfast in her role as monarch, never putting a foot wrong.

Her life was dedicated to us and she will be greatly missed by us all.

On behalf of The National Association of Women’s Clubs we send our condolences to her family.
